So, many of you have probably seen video of DC's Ken Block throwing around his insanely overbuilt/overpowered Crawford performance STI on an air field this year. The video was a viral phenomenon, so pull your head out of your ass if you haven't seen it.
That being said.
The video was tagged as Ken Blocks "Gymkhana" practice, which i always found odd. The reason being, well....its not Gymkhana at all. It was Rad, don't get me wrong, but i've seen Gymkhana footage, and that it ain't.
THIS is actual competition footage of a Gymkhana driver on the proper scale that this form of competition takes place. The sport is all about precision driving...Ken's awesome video...was not one smooth run, it was taken from multiple takes...unlike these drivers who get one crack at it and are scored accordingly. The whole thing is basically a time trial, not a smoke show.
Anyways...just FYI for all of those you don't give two shits.
I was poking around "English Russia" today and found this goldie.
The Lady sitting on the bench above is apparently 119 years old, but due to a technicality (no birth certificate because she was born in Islamic tradition...the church usually handled birth certification 100+ years ago), Guinness won't enter her as the oldest "official" person on earth (who is a 114 year old Chinese lady btw..)
She does however have a birthday card she received on her 30th birthday that is post marked almost 90 years ago...
Ok, so this vid really speaks for itself, which will not stop me from adding innane chatter to the internet.
I'm very pleased to see stuff like this. The reason being, clearly there are some creative, well meaning, fun people out there, with some editing skills to match.
I've been meaning to edit together some footage from Skate 2 to do something like this, but my laziness combined with fear of wife wraith has slowed the progress/starting said project.
What's worse is, both watching and playing skate related awesomeness like this just reminds me that I once could make that wooden rollie thing do some of the tricks I emulate in the mind and on the screen...yet I go home, workout, drink a beer, and stare at the fresh deck sitting in my guest room every morning. Three hyper colored pandas, staring back at me.
